Effective August 8, 2026
Privacy, kept local.
RecapShare Capture records a user-selected browser tab and creates interaction metadata for editable screen recordings. Nothing uploads automatically.
Recordings, screenshots, and metadata remain on the user's device until the user explicitly downloads or exports them.
Data the extension processes
During an active recording, the extension processes the selected tab's video and optional audio, optional microphone narration, visible click screenshots, sanitized page title and URL, interaction coordinates, viewport dimensions, and limited metadata about interacted elements.
Data the extension excludes
The extension does not collect form-field values, passwords, typed text, full DOM snapshots, browsing history outside the recording, advertising identifiers, or analytics. Common direct-identifier patterns are redacted from element labels and URLs.
Storage and transfer
Capture data is stored locally using browser extension storage and IndexedDB. It is not transmitted to RecapShare or third parties. Data leaves the browser only when the user explicitly downloads or later imports an exported file elsewhere.
Retention and deletion
Local recordings remain until the user clears the extension's data or removes the extension. Downloaded files are controlled by the user and any destination where the user later stores or uploads them.
Sharing and sale
RecapShare Capture does not sell personal information, use recording data for advertising, share it with third parties, or use it for eligibility decisions.
Security
The extension contains no remotely hosted executable code. Local files inherit the security of the user's browser profile and device. Users should only record information they are authorized to capture.
